Hanuman Avatar

Generally, it is believed in relation to Lanka burning that while searching for Sita, he reached Lanka and killed many demons including Ravana's son. Then Meghnad, son of Ravana, controlled Sri Hanuman by leaving the Brahmastra and Ravana punished Sri Hanuman for setting fire to his tail. Then with the same burning tail, Shri Hanuman set fire to Lanka and shattered Ravana's conceit. But in the Puranas, there is another interesting story behind Lanka burning, due to which Shri Hanuman set fire to Lanka with his tail.

  know that interesting story

Shri Hanuman is Shiva incarnation. This interesting incident is related to Shiva itself. Once on the wish of Mother Parvati, Shiva got Kubera to build a beautiful palace of gold. But Ravana was fascinated by the beauty of this palace. He went to Shiva disguised as a Brahmin. He asked Shiva-Parvati to enter the palace and ask for that palace as Dakshina. Knowing the devotee, Shiva was pleased and donated that palace.

After receiving the palace in charity, Ravana thought that this palace was actually built at the behest of Mother Parvati. Therefore it will not be auspicious without their consent. Then he also asked for Mata Parvati from Shivaji and Bholebhandari Shiva accepted it too. When Ravana started taking mother Parvati along with that golden palace. Then the shocked and sad mother Parvati remembered Vishnu and she came and protected the mother.

When Mother Parvati became displeased, Shiva accepted his mistake and promised Mother Parvati that in Tretayuga I would take the incarnation of Hanuman in the form of a monkey, at that time you would become my tail. When I will go to this golden palace i.e. Lanka in search of Mother Sita, you will punish Ravana by setting Lanka on fire in the form of a tail.

This incident is also believed to be a reason for the Sri Hanuman avatar of Shiva and the burning of Lanka.
